FAQs

  1. What is OnCopyright?

OnCopyright is a Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) blog featuring news and commentary on copyright issues. We post information on this blog as events unfold to keep you up-to-date on significant copyright-related news. OnCopyright replaces our traditional newsletters.

  1. Why did CCC create OnCopyright?

In a recent survey, our newsletter readers indicated that they want to learn about copyright news as it happens. And they wanted that information in small bites so that they could read it quickly and move on. We created OnCopyright to do just that. Our readers can stay informed of any new postings to the blog by subscribing to receive OnCopyright content by email or RSS.

  1. Do you still publish your e-newsletters CCC Extra and Publisher News?

No. Instead of publishing traditional multiple-article newsletters at set times throughout the year, we will post content to our new OnCopyright blog as news happens.

  1. How do I subscribe to OnCopyright?

You can choose to receive OnCopyright postings by email or RSS. Go to OnCopyright and select the “Email sign-up” link to request email delivery, or for RSS, simply select the appropriate RSS feed for your RSS reader. You can also visit www.copyright.com/CopyrightCentral to see our blog entries.

  1. What is RSS?

Really simple syndication (RSS) is a relatively new content distribution format that allows you to stay informed whenever your favorite websites publish new content. Instead of manually checking multiple sites for the latest news, an RSS aggregator service or “reader” does it for you. Once you select an RSS reader, such as Bloglines, My Yahoo! or Newsgator, you can set it to automatically check your favorite websites throughout the day, and gather the latest headlines, content and story links in one central place for you to view at your convenience.

  1. What’s the difference between RSS and email?

Email pushes content out from publishers to subscribers. RSS is actually used by subscribers to pull content from the publishers they select.

  1. Will I receive On Copyright articles via email?

Since OnCopyright now replaces the newsletters CCC Extra and Publisher News, our newsletter email subscribers will now receive postings from our OnCopyright blog instead.

  1. How often will I receive articles from OnCopyright?

Since our readers have asked to receive news as it happens, it’s hard to say exactly how often you will receive postings from OnCopyright. On average, you may receive a new post from us two to four times per month.

  1. How do I subscribe to OnCopyright mailings?

Select the “Email sign-up” link at the top right corner of OnCopyright, and complete the brief subscription form.

  1. How do I unsubscribe from OnCopyright mailings?

When you receive an OnCopyright email, you can unsubscribe by simply selecting the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email and following the instructions to remove yourself from our mailing list.

  1. How do I notify you if I have changes in my email address and other contact information?

You can update your contact information any time by selecting the “update profile” link at the bottom of any OnCopyright email and revising your subscriber information.

  1. Do you offer archives of your past articles?

Yes. Our OnCopyright blog includes links to archived blog postings and select articles from past newsletters.

  1. Can I share On Copyright articles with others?

Yes, but we ask that you credit Copyright Clearance Center as the source. To use any third-party content to which OnCopyright postings link, permission may be required.
